Frequently Asked Questions
INJECTABLES
What can filler be used for?
Some of Dr. Khiani’s favorite procedures include fillers! Lip Filler can be used to enhance the volume of lips along with hydration. Cheekbone and jawline fillers can be used to create a more sculpted look of the face. Chin filler can be used to add balance to the face and balance the side profile. The procedure Dr. Khiani is perhaps most well-known for is smooth marionettes, whereby filler is placed strategically in the lower mouth area to lift the corners of the mouth and to soften the lower face.
How long does filler last?
Filler is metabolized at different rates by different people, and it also tends to last longer in those areas of the face that have less movement. In general filler lasts about 6 months to a year. Recent MRI studies are showing filler is lasting in certain areas much longer than we expected, years. Dr. Khiani will always guide you and let you know if it’s time for more filler or if it’s better to wait.
What are fillers made out of?
Injectable fillers are man-made derivatives of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a complex sugar molecule and a major component of the body’s own collagen. All of our fillers are FDA-approved and the body naturally degrades them over time.
What is a neuromodulator?
Neuromodulators (more commonly known by their brand names of Botox, Xeomin, Dysport, and Jeuveau) interrupt the signal between nerve and muscle, causing the muscles to contract less, smoothing the wrinkles in the relevant area.
When will I see results from my neuromodulator treatment?
You will not see immediate improvement in fine lines and wrinkles. Results can be seen in 4 to 8 days and sometimes longer. The results peak at 30 days and then slowly diminish over 3-4 months.
How long do neuromodulators last?
The amount of time your neuromodulator lasts depends on your metabolic rate. The majority of patients maintain neuromodulator treatments every 3 to 4 months.
What can neuromodulators be used for?
While neuromodulators can be used to smooth wrinkles, they can also be used for much more! For example, they can be used to create an eyebrow arch, carry out a “lip flip,” correct gummy smile, slim the lower face, and reduce grinding/clenching and TMJ dysfunction. They can even be used in the neck (for a “Nefertiti Neck Lift”).

What is Poly-L Lactic Acid?
Poly-L Lactic Acid is often known as Sculptra and this is Dr. Khiani’s area of expertise. She does full face collagen stimulation with Sculptra for a natural, anti-aging injectable treatment that lasts 2-3 years. Full Face consultation is required prior to the procedure. 3 sessions required initially. Vials recommended depend on genetics and age.
Is there any downtime associated with injectables?
There is no meaningful downtime from an injectable treatment, however, it is common to experience swelling, bumps, or bruising within the first two weeks of receiving treatment. We also recommend that patients refrain from exercising for the rest of the day after coming in for an injection. To help with bruising and swelling, a natural supplement called Arnica can be taken prior to the procedure.
How long does it take to see results from a filler injection?
You will begin to see results right away, however, filler takes 2-3 weeks to fully settle and rehydrate. During this time it is normal to experience a lump or bump that will settle on its own until the filler integrates with the tissue.
What are the aftercare instructions for an injectable treatment?
Avoid exercise for the rest of the day. Avoid makeup for 6 hours. Avoid alcohol and blood thinners for 1 to 2 days, as well as salt, saunas, steam rooms, and sleeping on your face. Ice can be used as needed for comfort and/or swelling (not for PRP).

What is PRP for hair loss?
PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy for hair loss is a treatment that uses your own blood’s platelets to stimulate hair growth. A small amount of blood is drawn, processed to concentrate the platelets, and then injected into the scalp to promote hair follicle health and regrowth.
